I was born with a large blue birthmark on my face on the right side. I have always used DermaBlend makeup to cover it, however I regularly go out to the local grocery store or somewhere just to see the reactions of people and test their patience and customer service. I am treated very differently when I am covering the birthmark and when I am not. Since I was a child teachers and students always thought I was being abuse at home, funny thing is even when they were thinking that, noone inquired or did anything about it. We are still a country in so much fear and denial, it makes me angry and sick to my stomach

Hey Duffy,
you are right about how they treat people differently....we often are a very shallow society. It sad to hear about no one taking action...here is a funny twist. We heard about a child who was being abuse at home reported it and they went and told the abusive parent they were reported! How is that for a back fire! I flipped out on the case worker.
How are you coping these days? Have you chatted with other affected adults before? This fall we will be resumeing our adult workshop series. its held via teleconference so you can call in from any where. Have you joined AboutFace yet?
