Everyone finds fault in themselves sometimes. No matter who you are or what you look like. The important thing is to look past the little 'faults' that you see and remember that they shape the great person you are inside. Think of them as 'battle scars', they make you stronger! :)

Yes, I agree with Charlene!
You are not only your facial difference. Focus on who you are and be a person that you can admire, respect and love. No one is perfect..no one!!
You have to choose.. you can either fight who you are..or accept who you are.
The choice you make will affect every thought, feeling and action..so think carefully about who really are. Stay positive and start telling yourself that you are great-the way you are!! Donna

I love the battle scars idea!

I use that all the time, it's the best and most easy excuse to use if people become curious about scars.Usually for me it confuses but also amuses people so its like the tension is lifted. Plus for those really gullable people its kind of fun because I have a few people that take it literally and I let them run with it until I feel guilty about it LOL. For the longest time the scar from my G-tube was a stab wound from a bar fight...Classic. But as for being more realistic I like to think of battle scars pretaining to a symbol of all the tough times I've been through emotionally or otherwise. I totally agree with you and I love this discussion board idea.

I don't think anyone is worse off, we all have our stories and our times of strife because we look in the mirror but in the end not one is worse off than someone else. It would be like putting social classification on our facial differences. Just because one is more pronounced or severe than another it doesn't mean they are worse off but I do see your point. We do still have to think positive. Donna says so, she's a smart lady!

"battle Scars" - thats a great way to explain it. There are a lot more people "worse off". One of the things about it [as birth 'defects' go] its fairly common 1 in 800 as cleft lip or palate (or a combination of the two). So Its not insanely difficult to find lots of other people with the same thing. Which is great because you can do things like Trailblazers.
